Customer Service Standard Policy

Our Commitment 

Watson’s Home Hardware is committed to eliminating barriers and improving accessibility for people with disabilities. People with disabilities will be given the same opportunity to access and benefit from our goods and services.  We are committed to meeting accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. 

Assistive Devices 

We will ensure that our staff are trained and familiar with various assistive devices that may be used by customers with disabilities while shopping at our stores. 

Communication 

We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that consider their disability. 

Service Animals

We welcome people with disabilities and their service animals. Service animals are allowed in our stores that are open to the public. 

Support Persons  

A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to have that person accompany them on our premises. 

Notice of Temporary Disruption in Service 

In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption in our facilities, Watson’s will notify those with a disability promptly. This will be posted at customer entrances and will include information about the reason for disruption, its anticipated duration, and a description of alternative facilities or services, if available. 

Training

All employees of Watson’s Home Hardware will be trained in Ontario’s accessibility laws. Training is provided to staff during orientation, typically within 30 days of being hired. Re-fresher training will be provided as needed. 

Feedback Process

Customers who wish to provide feedback on the way Watson’s provides services to people with disabilities can provide feedback verbally or in a written format. All feedback will be direct to the Owners of Watson’s. Customers can expect to hear back within 30 days. 

Changes to Existing Policies and Procedures

Any policy of Watson’s Home Hardware that does not respect and promote the dignity and independence of people with disabilities will be modified or removed. Any future renovations to our locations will take accessibility into consideration in efforts to remove existing barriers.
